The McNeela Signature DC Mandolin

Our new Signature mandolin is an F-hole mandolin with its own unique double cutaway design.

We’ve removed the standard swirl at the top of the main body and designed it with two identical swirls on either side, to give it its own very particular look, sound and feel.

F-hole mandolins have a brighter, more shimmery tone than oval-hole mandolins, with a bit more punch and volume and a sharper attack. So they tend to produce a more percussive sound.

Which is why they’re so popular in both American bluegrass and traditional Irish music circles.

And we’ve given it a stylish satin finish which acts to subtly increase its sustain and resonance.

This is a mandolin with a genuinely unique design that produces a big, punchy sound. And is guaranteed to turn heads wherever you take it out and play it.

The double cutaway design caused me to be skeptical of this instrument. However, once it arrived and I started playing it, I found it to be comfortable and easy to work with. The sound quality is great. The appearance, sound, and quality of workmanship are outstanding in this mandolin, and I would recommend it for any level. It arrived on time and was well packaged. This instrument seems right at home here in the mountains of western North Carolina.

Lovely instrument! I’ve been wanting to learn mandolin for a while, but kept trying on really low-level instruments, and wanted something more inspiring. I decided the Signature DC was it! I love the look and feel of this mando: the playability is excellent, and it sounds and feels great. I also love the uniqueness of the double cutaway, the beautiful inlay, and the gorgeous wood grain. Adding to all that, the folks at McNeela were quick to respond to questions I had, and my order arrived quickly and safely. I’m super excited to build my mandolin skills, and am really enjoying doing so on this instrument!

Très satisfait, superbe mandoline ....... Bonjour, Un peu d'attente pour la recevoir, dû à la distance et quelques grèves apparemment. Réception ensuite avec un emballage parfait (les compliments de la part de Colissimo). Une fois déballée, (multicouche de film plastique à bulle et carton épais ensuite), je découvre la mandoline dans sa boîte, parfaitement protégée. Aucun soucis de finition si ce n'est une petite goutte de verni séché sous la table, vraiment pas gênante au regard. Une fois bien accordée, répétition avec mon groupe. Elle a tenue ses promesses en distillant un son très pur et surtout très juste. La note reste claire et juste, jusqu'au bout du manche. J'aime beaucoup son look qui n'est pas commun. J'en suis très satisfait. Je rejoue bientôt avec des copains dans un bar, j'ai hâte de leur faire voir.
