Rosewood 16'' Deep Rim Performance Bodhrán

“Brilliant look, feel and sound” - Ocean C.

This 16” bodhrán is crafted from Indian rosewood as this quality tonewood produces a particularly rich and expansive tone. And we’ve given it an extra deep rim of 5 ½ inches to give you added power, sustain and volume.

It features Paraic’s unique 8-point tuning system which we’ve devised to make it as easy as possible for you to fine-tune your bodhrán as you play.

It’s made using sustainably sourced, hand-stretched goatskin and the bodhrán itself is taped around the edges and this extends its harmonics and adds complexity to the bass tones.

This beautifully made, hand-crafted bodhrán produces rich, deep tones and a resonant sustain and is the ideal instrument to sit in on an Irish trad session.

The Bodhrán That Took 50 Years to Perfect

It all started in 1973, when I built a bodhrán for my band’s singer. What followed was five decades of obsession, spent learning from Ireland’s finest, gathering feedback at sessions and in my workshop, chasing the perfect tone.

This isn’t a drum “inspired” by tradition. It is tradition, shaped and sharpened by real-world playing. It feels right the moment you pick it up, and sounds better with every tune. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned session player, it’s built to grow with you.

Rosewood and a Deep Rim for Rich Tone

Rosewood isn’t just beautiful, it’s one of the most sought-after tonewoods for percussion. Its density and grain structure provide exceptional resonance and projection, creating a bodhrán tone that’s rich, complex, and naturally amplified.

The extra depth of the 5.5" rim enhances bass resonance and tonal sustain, giving your playing a powerful, room-filling volume and a broader dynamic expression.

Hand-Selected Goatskin

Each goatskin is carefully chosen for tone and texture, then hand-cured and stretched for maximum musical responsiveness. Sustainably sourced and untreated by chemicals, these skins deliver a balanced mix of depth, clarity, and sensitivity to touch.

8-Point Precision Hand-Tuning System

Humidity and travel are no match for the 8-point hand-tuning system, which lets you easily fine-tune your bodhrán on the fly. Designed for fast access and smooth adjustment, you can keep your tone tight, clear, and ready for anything.

Taped Edges for Harmonic Control

The bodhrán’s taped edges extend its harmonic range and add warmth and focus to each stroke. This time-tested technique reduces overtones, increases sustain, and brings out the best in your tone whether you’re playing softly or going full volume.

Tone That Turns Heads

This bodhrán sings under the tipper. From delicate rolls to bold accents, it delivers a rich, resonant tone with fast attack and plenty of sustain. The goatskin head is carefully treated to retain natural variation and character, giving you a truly musical drum that sounds alive.

Protection and Portability

Your bodhrán comes with a free gig bag built for daily use. Whether you're traveling to a session, performing on stage, or storing your drum at home, your instrument stays protected from wear and tear.
