This 18” bodhrán is one for the purists. It has none of the complications around deeper rims or fancy shapes, it’s your classic, plain, wide rimmed Irish bodhrán. The only minor changes we've made are focused on further improving the depth and quality of its sound.

So it has the unique McNeela 6-point tuning system, which allows you to effortlessly fine-tune as you play.

And, as with all our bodhráns, it’s taped around the edges, as this extends its harmonics and adds further depth and complexity to the bass tones.

18" Tuneable Bodhran

I am feeling compelled to write a review as my experience was not the same as many of the reviews I found here. The quality and craftsmanship found on my drum is disappointing to say the least. The inner tuning rim is noticeably warped in one section - the outer rim is also far from perfect. There is obvious tear out around the screws holding the tuning lugs. The fabric band surrounding the drum has some very noticeable flaws/pulled threads. As well, the black finish on the crossbar does not have the same clear/top coat found on the rest of the drum. Unfortunate to discover this after being so impressed with the McNeela drum I bought last year.
