Enda Scahill's Irish Banjo Tutor II

Enda Scahill from Galway has been at the forefront of Irish banjo playing for some time and is highly regarded for his technical wizardry and innovative style.

Enda's illustrious career has seen him record with Grammy-winner and Bluegrass legend Ricky Skaggs, guest with The Chieftains, tour with Frankie Gavin and Stockton's Wing, and perform for over 10 years with Instrumental Irish Band of the Decade, The Brock McGuire Band. Enda now plays with his award-winning band We Banjo 3.

Enda's debut solo album Pick It Up is highly acclaimed, Irish American News said "Enda does things on the banjo which should be impossible'. His collaboration with melodeonist Paul Brock and pianist Ryan Molly produced the album Humdinger which was awarded Traditional Album of the Year by The Irish Times. Enda was instrumental in the ground-breaking album Green Grass Blue Grass by the Brock McGuire Band which PJ Curtis described as "An electrifying rendering of tunes from different - though related - traditions as they flow from the hearts and fingers of these virtuoso musicians at the very top of their game"

Enda's first book, Enda Scahill's Irish Banjo Tutor sets out in concise detail the essential foundation techniques for playing the banjo. It describes the exact method of holding the banjo and the pick, correct picking patterns and relaxation, and the fundamentals of ornamentation. Professor Mick Moloney praised the book as being "masterfully conceived, the product of years of playing and thoughtful reflection"

This book, Enda Scahill's Irish Banjo Tutor II continues Enda's unique teaching method and approach to banjo playing. It explores the vastly important area of relaxation and breathing, describes techniques for developing excellent rhythm and phrasing, discusses the craft of adding ornamentation and variation to tunes, and offers a detailed approach to embellishing tunes through the use of chords and harmony.
