Amongst Friends is the debut recording from The Beartla Ó Flatharta Céilí Band, a group of lifelong friends from North Kildare with a shared passion for traditional Irish music. Featuring a broad mix of reels, jigs, marches, polkas, barndances, and even a few songs, this album offers something for every fan of traditional Irish music.

About the Band

Formed in 2008, the band is named in honour of Beartla Ó Flatharta, a talented musician and sean-nós singer from Connemara, whose daughters Róisín and Úna are both members of the group. Having grown up together through the Leixlip branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, the band developed a lively and rhythmic style that draws from the local Kildare tradition while staying rooted in the wider Irish music tradition.

In 2024, following a six-year break from competition, the group returned to win the All-Ireland Senior Céilí Band title at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Wexford.

The album is accompanied by a detailed bilingual booklet offering background on the tunes, stories behind the music, and the people who helped shape the band's journey.

Amongst Friends is a snapshot of a group of musicians who’ve grown up playing together – a mix of family, friendship, and tradition all captured in one recording.

Dedicated to Máire Uí Fhlatharta, Patsy Magee, and Mairéad Uí Argáin.
