“This (Bravura) is such a beautiful instrument, the tone is rich and lovely.” - Kerrin O.
Introducing our limited edition Bravura Il Cannone violin, inspired by and carefully modelled on the famous violin that was so beloved of Italy’s 19th century virtuoso Paganini.
The original ‘Cannone’ was built by Giuseppe ‘del Jesú’ Guarneri, who came from one of the most famous luthier families in 18th century Italy, and was himself a contemporary and competitor of Stradavari.
When, a century later, a teenage Paganini got given his own beloved ‘Cannone’, it became his violin of choice for the rest of his life. What really excited him about it was the darker, more sonorous tone he got out of it.
Paganini sent his ‘cannone’ to Paris whenever it needed repairing, and we turned to France as well when putting together this carefully constructed violin.
The bridge is made for us by France's famous Aubert Lutherie, who use only the finest quality maple for their bridges, and insist on treating them exclusively with natural products
The top is crafted from solid flamed spruce, the back, sides and neck from maple and the fingerboard, chin rest and tailpiece are made of ivory.
This exquisitely crafted violin produces a rich, robust tone that’s worthy of its name and heritage. It will allow you to explore the classical repertoire with supreme confidence. But equally, should the occasion arise, you can take it out and use it as a fiddle, as you can see from the video below.
