Seinn an Piano

Seinn an Piano (meaning, Play the Piano) provides an easy to follow approach to playing traditional music on the piano, both solo and accompaniment. The first of its kind, it is written by Clare woman, Geraldine Cotter - author of the bestselling Traditional Irish Tin Whistle Tutor.

The tunes are carefully selected and progress from simple to more advanced tunes; jigs, reels, hornpipes, set dances and polkas are included with variations and ideas for ornamentation.

The section dealing with accompaniment gives a comprehensive list of chord progression in various keys. Included also is an informative introduction to the place of the piano in Irish traditional music. This section contains some rare photos of many of the greats.

Finally there is a selection of tunes to put to use all the skills acquired from the early chapters.

Demonstration recordings are available to accompany this book - all the tunes and various techniques are played slowly at first and then up to full speed.

This book is ideal for players who have a few years experience on the piano and who are interested in playing traditional Irish music either solo or as accompaniment in true Céilí Band style.
